How do you do "I do"

For several years now I have been passionate about where my food comes from. My passion grew out of a problem I saw within me. I was 300lbs of unhealthy person.

Something had to be done in my life...something had to change. I met with my first nutritionist, Wendy, and she got me focusing on better kinds of foods. Organic foods. She gave me a list of things I could buy, where to buy them, and how to make them. Eventually I got to the point where I began asking myself about the source of these foods. Can a chicken really pop out an egg with extra Omega-3? If the answer to that was no, then why am I eating eggs that promote more O3 than the rest. I asked myself, "Whats wrong with the way God made things from the beginning? Why do I have to eat non-fat? whats wrong with dairy?

Shortly thereafter, I found my new nutritionist and movement coach Craig Keaton. He was living the way I began to question. He drank raw milk & cheese, ate 100% Grass Fed beef and consumed fat by the spoonful.

Over the next few weeks, I will share with you as much as I have been taught about food and nutrition. Hopefully you will change at least a couple things in your diet before you become the new statistic of poor health in this next generation.

Here is an article he recently wrote on GMO and other chemicals found in our foods.

By Craig Keaton

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, rodenticides, and other chemical combinations, steroids, growth hormone, and antibiotics, additives, preservatives, colorings, emulsifiers and stabilizers, and the list goes on and on…
Do you eat food or fake?

The average American consumes over 20 pounds of food additives every year.

American farmers spray over 2 billion pounds of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and rodenticides every year on our crops.

The cattle we consume ingest 70% of the nation’s antibiotics, and we eat 70 pounds of it per person.

With hidden sugar and straight sugar addicition we are toppling 175 pounds per of it in our diet per person per year.

A teaspoon of sugar helps the medicine go down?
1 teaspoon of sugar can suppress the immune system by 50% for up to 4 hours! And we are eating 175 pounds of it every year!

Outside of the 2 billion pounds of chemicals sprayed on our crops each year, we ingest other chemicals that are illegal to farm with in the US. You see, we are fortunate enough to make it and then sell it to other countries, let them farm with it and get sick in the process, and then is shipped back and into our stores!

All the chemicals that are “studied” in isolation are said to be safe at very low levels, but we don’t consume low levels. Also, they are not on and in food in isolation. They are always found with other chemicals or you are eating different foods grown with different chemical-icides. No one has EVER studied these chemicals in combination. Make your own conclusion on that one!

Animals in the wild of all species have been studied with GMOs – they will NOT eat food that is genetically modified! Sounds like they are a little more in touch with their sensations that we are.

Steroids and growth hormone will and do alter the amino acid profile of the animal that consumes them. This means that your chicken breast and whey protein actually don’t have all the protein parts that GNC and Muscle and Fiction are telling you need and are getting.

Organic food and the future
We are at a critical point with our biochemical future. We are destroying our land and our bodies. We are creating disease in our animals and ourselves. We think we are above nature! No, we are only a part of nature.

Organic is fad? No WAY! It’s the only way it’s ever been done. Organic can’t feed the world? No WAY! That’s what I do. We are always in a state of turnover. Consume synthetic isomers and chemically crafted contents and you are DEGENERATING. We have more of it today than ever! Consume the natural elements from their natural environment and you are REGENERATING!

Go get better!

I am sitting upstairs editing photos when I hear the sound of lawn mowers. Since it a beautiful day, I don't think much about it, as most people would be mowing their lawns on a day like today. But then I am reminded that just before my husband headed downstairs, he said he was going to mow. With that thought I quickly grabbed my camera and headed outside to get a picture of my MAN CANDY doing some yard work.
There is nothing sexier than my Michael doing manly chores...YUM YUM....

He looks delicious

Sadly I dont have a vitamixer. If I did then I would not have the problem I am currently facing. When I juice veggies/fruit, I have tons of pulp left over. A couple days ago I made some carrot juice. It left me with about 3 cups of pulp. I had to come up with a way to use the pulp instead of sending it to my compost.

Below is the answer. I am so happy I have a solution for pulp...

ps. I forgot to tell you what to do with the agave. Add it to the pulp when in the food processor. Add as much as you want to make it sweet or no

When I came home from my jog, I saw a pile of boxes on the kitchen counter. I turned on the lights, there were three games with a receipt sitting on top. Long story short, Michael went to Target while I was gone and bought 10 Sobe Waters, three Games and 2 free Medium size Pizzas from Pizza Hut for FREE!

Don't believe me, check out the receipt below. Its crazy how he does this kind of stuff.

Michael loves a good french fry every now and then. Before we got married Michael would eat lots of fries from McDonalds, Whataburgar, etc. Problem is those fries come from non-organic potatoes (i'll talk about that later) and they are fried in hydrogenated vegetable oil.

The best oil to use when deep frying is grapeseed oil and peanut oil. Be sure not to heat the oil above 340 degrees. After that, it becomes toxic to the body (again, I will talk more about that later). Enjoy the photos...Let me know if you have questions.

Michael is a Bacon Cheese Burger kind of guy. I personally am a little more city than my Michael. I like things more gourmet, more savory, more exquisite. That is why I like my blue Cheese Burger over a bacon cheese burger.

If you click on the fist photo. A gallery of larger photos will pop up as well. This will enable you to read my instructions.

This was the mail we got today :)
Everyone has unique qualities about themselves. We all do things that others find odd or abnormal. Sometimes our habits are downright hilarious. When you get married, you really notice the other persons habits. Good or bad, you are stuck with those traits. If you want a happy marriage, you'll learn to love or accept the habits. If not, chances are, things may not be too pleasant in your house.

My Michael has a particular habit I find endearing and a little silly. He does not have a routine for the whole day...just when he wakes in the morning. Michael, wakes up, throws shampoo in his hair, gets dressed, scoots past the unmade bed, the kitchen, and almost skips to the mail box where he quickly reaches in and grabs all the wonderful delights the mailman has left us.

Michael quickly returns to the house with mail in hand, finds a cozy place (bed, table, couch, etc.) and goes through each piece of mail one at a time. Here is the best part. He has to start from the top and move his way down to the last piece. He never looks through the mail to see whats there. The rule is: One piece at a time and no skipping ahead. In fact, I am not allowed to tell him where pieces of mail came from or who they are from. He is like a little kid in a candy shop who has $20 to spend on sugary goodness. His whole face is lit up with joy....

Its rather cute to watch him do this everyday. No matter the weather, his mood, or how many times chunk (our cat) woke him up, he is a happy man when he is opening the mail.

So, if you would like to add to my husbands joy, please send him a fun card or letter in the mail. It would brighten his day.

I've had this blog up for less than a week and yesterday I had 85 visitors. 63 of those visitors were unique...thanks everyone. I vow to make this as interesting as possible. In fact, I am so thrilled, I am going to post something else exciting today.

I cant say it enough..."MY MICHAEL" is amazing. He does wonderful things for me everyday including making me special dinners. Several nights ago he said he was going to make me Eggplant Parmesan. I was thrilled for the yummy meal and excited knowing I could photograph him doing it :)

Without further adieux..My Michael

Did you know that the coconut is making a comeback? There are so many wonderful things about coconuts. Plus they are incredibly delicious!

Did you know that coconuts are neither fruits nor nuts? They are actually seeds. Here are a few of the benefits of the coconut:

Coconut water has a ton of advantages. It is full of potassium and electrolytes and is incredibly hydrating. When you drink coconut water it is almost immediately absorbed into your cells.

Coconut milk is higher in fat and protein than coconut water and it makes a delicious addition to stews and soups. You can also use it in place of dairy in products like ice cream.

Coconut oil is an amazing product. It is high in a type of fatty acid that does not require typical digestion. These types of fatty acids get used as fuel almost immediately upon eating them. This can help with weight loss because the body will start metabolizing the fat rather than storing it.
